Logo Design

Crazy8s is an annual 8 day filmmaking challenge run by the non-profit Crazy8s Film Society in Vancouver. They provide funding and support to emerging filmmakers to help them producing a short film and foster support for emerging filmmakers who have little or no access to funding for short films.

crazy8s_mainlogoI was honoured to be selected for a contribution to a potential redesign of their logo. As part of a pitch, I created a flexible branding system, that is as versatile as filmmaking itself and adaptable to any situation.crazy8s_logovariationsThe main focus was a combination of word mark and the graphic element of a film camera. The 8 is tipped to the side, how crazy, and therefore mimicking an old 35mm film camera. It also acts as a white canvas, that can be filled with any content.

The word mark is placed purposefully to the bottom right of the ‘8’ emphasizes the symbol of film cameras back in the days. The rounded and friendly typeface in the and the use of different font weights, symbolize the variety of film producers and contributions.
